Meet & Greet: Freshers Welcome ChemMeet 22-October-2024, AB2, 205  About the event ChemMeet Mole Day celebration on October 22, 2024, aimed at honoring the contributions of chemistry to science and daily life. The event brought together students, PhD scholars, and faculty members to celebrate the importance of Avogadro’s Number and the concept of the mole, which are foundational in chemistry. Mole Day provided an engaging platform for students and scholars to connect, learn, and enjoy interactive chemistry-themed activities. ChemMeet: Activities Chem-Walk Who am I? Periodic Table Bingo Event report The ACS Student Chapter at VIT-AP University organized a vibrant Mole Day celebration on October 22, 2024, aimed at honoring the contributions of chemistry to science and daily life. The event brought together students, PhD scholars, and faculty members to celebrate the importance of Avogadro’s Number and the concept of the mole, which are foundational in chemistry. Mole Day provided an engaging platform for students and scholars to connect, learn, and enjoy interactive chemistry-themed activities. The event saw enthusiastic participation, with a total of 54 attendees, including: 4 Faculty Members, 20 PhD Scholars and 30 Students (undergraduate and postgraduate). Event Highlights and Activities: The Mole Day celebration featured a series of interactive activities designed to encourage teamwork, creativity, and a deeper appreciation of chemistry: ChemWalk: Description: Participants engaged in a “ChemWalk,” an interactive tour where they explored and discussed various chemistry concepts and their applications in real life. This activity was designed to allow participants to walk through stations, each representing a different chemistry theme, sparking curiosity and conversation. Periodic Table Bingo Description: In this chemistry-themed twist on Bingo, attendees played with bingo cards featuring elements from the periodic table. Elements were called out, and participants marked them off on their cards. Who Am I? Game Description: This guessing game featured chemistry-related terms, concepts, and famous scientists. Participants were given clues and asked to guess the correct answer. ChemConnect: Activities ChemPictionary ChemAntakshari Chemical Chair Event report VIT-AP University proudly inaugurated its American Chemical Society (ACS) Student Chapter, marking a new chapter in the university’s commitment to advancing education and research in the field of chemistry. The inaugural event, “ChemConnect,” was held in the Department of Chemistry and brought together faculty members, research scholars, and postgraduate students for an engaging and interactive session. The event commenced with a warm welcome from Dr. Ramakanth Illa, Head of the Chemistry Department, who emphasized the importance of such initiatives in promoting academic excellence and fostering innovation within the department. Following the opening address, Dr. Sabeel M Basheer, the Faculty Coordinator of the ACS Student Chapter, provided an insightful presentation on the objectives and benefits of the chapter, highlighting the valuable resources and networking opportunities it offers to both students and faculty members. The ChemConnect session was led by Dr. Ritambara Sharma and Dr. Debakanta Tripathy, who facilitated interactive activities designed to encourage collaboration and idea-sharing among participants. The event saw enthusiastic participation from department faculty, research scholars, and postgraduate students, all of whom contributed to making the session a success. The ACS Student Chapter at VIT-AP University will serve as a platform for students and faculty to engage in skill-building workshops, attend national and international ACS conferences, and collaborate on cutting-edge research projects. Through this chapter, the Department of Chemistry aims to strengthen its academic and research capabilities while providing its students with the tools they need to excel in the chemical sciences. Dr. Sabeel M Basheer commented, “The inauguration of the ACS Student Chapter is a significant milestone for VIT-AP University.
